Hand engraving is the perfect way to personalize a gift for bridesmaids, groomsmen, mothers, fathers or any relative or friend (Gift page). True hand engraving is done with a sharpened steel rod held by hand to cut letters and patterns into the surface of precious metals (Process page). This skill leaves a shiny, dimensional line that highlights the letters. Machine engraving, acid etching, and laser engraving do not cut as deep into the metal so it doesn't last as long or have the same crisp, elegant look as this traditional technique.
